Applying the food-energy-water nexus approach to urban agriculture: From FEW to FEWP (Food-Energy-Water-People)

Abstract Many studies examine the correlation between use of resources such as water, energy and land, production food. These nexus focus predominantly on large scale systems, often considering social dimensions only in terms access to participation decision-making process, rather than individual attitudes behaviours with respect resource use. Such a concept is relevant urban agriculture (UA), but it requires customisation particular characteristics growing food cities, which practiced mainly at small produces not also considerable social, economic, environmental co-benefits. To this end, paper proposes new conceptual basis for UA Nexus, together an assessment methodology that explicitly includes addition food, water.
